The White Knight ECO Tumble Dryer is the only domestic tumble drying appliance available in the UK which uses gas rather than electricity and which consequently produces 54% less carbon than a typical electric tumble dryer with 61% lower annual running costs.

Whilst allowing clothes to dry naturally clearly represents the means of the least overall environmental impact, in practical terms, the Eco Tumble Dryer represents the next best alternative, minimising the effect of drying in terms of financial outlay and environmental impact whilst maximising efficiency.

The ECO Tumble Dryer has a large 7kg capacity and is available in two models.

The ECO43A features a reverse tumble action that works to reduce the possibility of tangled clothes. The drying time is selected by the user dependant on the load to be dried.

White Knight ECO86A - Sensor Gas Dryer
ECO86A

The ECO86A is a microprocessor controlled electronic sensing reverse-action dryer which works to reduce the possibility of tangled clothes and features a user selectable drying function where the machine stops the cycle when it detects your clothes are sufficiently dry at the dryness level you have chosen.

With around 10 million tumble dryers in the UK market, electric tumble dryers currently account for a massive 4.3% of the UK's entire domestic energy consumption. The introduction of gas powered tumble dryers presents many benefits to both the consumer and the environment.

Carbon Efficient - The Eco Tumble Dryer is significantly more carbon efficient than electrical tumble dryers, producing 54% less carbon than a typical electric tumble dryer (at approximately 21kg carbon per year, as opposed to 40kg.)

Gas v Electricity - Given that Electricity is ~3 times more expensive than Gas, the Eco Tumble Dryer is significantly cheaper to run than an electrical alternative with a 61% lower annual running cost, averaging only £15 per year as opposed to £40 per year.

Energy Label Ready - As a gas tumble dryer, the Eco Tumble Dryer is exempt from the standard energy label requirements which apply to the electrical tumble dryers - yet in carbon terms, eco friendly dryers are the equivalent of Energy Band "A".

Important - Installation Requirements:
  • ECO Gas dryers are for use in the United Kingdom & Ireland with Natural Gas only.
  • The gas dryers must be installed by a competent Gas-Safe registered engineer. Click here for a full list of registered installers. Click here to view details of a Gas Dryer approved installer covering the Yorkshire region.
  • A 13 amp electric socket is required in addition to a suitable gas supply.
  • The dryers are suitable for use only with Natural Gas.
  • The dryers must be ventilated through an outside wall.
  • Installation costs can vary depending on the proximity of the gas and electric supply to the appliance.
  • The dryer cannot be located in a bedroom, bathroom or shower room.
  • Great care is required in the location of the dryer in premises where concentration of flammable vapours may accumulate eg. Commercial garages and associated workshops.
  • The room in which the dryer is installed should have an openable window or other form of ventilation.
